Welcome to Neethorp Cavaliers!

We are a small showing and breeding family specialising in Cavaliers.

Residing in the beautiful countryside of Forcett, Tasmania with our 2 current Cavaliers, Sunshine & Tysinia.

Our first cavalier was purchased when I was around 12, and was destined for a relaxing life as a pet and part time stud dog.  After well and truly falling in love with the breed and our dear pet Roger, it was time to add to the family, and start my career in the show world.

Around 2 years later, at just age 14 I got the wonderful Christmas present of my first show dog, Barakah Tysinia (Tye).  As I soon discovered, showing wasn’t quite as easy as it looks.  So down to Huonville every week we would drive to take lessons on showing, and obedience.

Although Tye never had a very successful show career, we both learnt a lot and had fun doing it!

It was then decided that Tye should be put to pup, to see if we couldn’t calm her temperament down just a tad.  So 9 weeks later she had her first litter of pups.  As the pups matured we decided to run 2 on, and see how they went in the ring, so it was then that Zander & Lilli joined the family.

After a few months into his career it was decided that Zander would be better off in a pet home.  So off he went to a lovely couple to enjoy a leisurely life.

Mother & daughter, Tye & Lilli continued showing, with limited success until the arrival of Bayliana Myonlysunsine (Sunshine) in 2001.  Tye was then retired to the life of a pet, but still part of the family.

Sunshine created havoc from the moment she entered the family.  With a personality as large as life, and an attitude to match.  She was determined to be the boss of everyone!

Early in her show career it was obvious that she loved it.  And with a few wins in baby puppy and puppy, she was off to a good start.  For the next 2 years success in the ring was few and far between, for both Lili and Sunshine.  It soon became apparent, that although Lilli was a wonderful dog, she just wasn’t built for showing, so we parted company and Lilli went to live with a Lovely family in Lenah Valley, with 3 young girls to fuss over her.

In late 2003 a new member of the family arrived in the form of a beautiful Blenheim boy, by the name of Barnaby (Barns). Barns had been living in Melbourne and when he arrived back in Tasmania, to his breeder, he wasn’t in the condition.

As his breeder showed mainly whole colours, she was looking for a show home for him.  Eagerly I raised my hand for the job, and a few weeks latter, Barns was exploring is new home at Forcett.

For Barns it was love at first sight, when he lay eyes on Sunshine, and the two were virtually Inseparable from that moment forward.

Barns proved to be a bit of a handful, as he was very unpredictable in the show ring and would often stop dead for no apparent reason, but with a lot of hard work and many hours of training he was slowly getting better. So together Sunshine and Barns travelled happily to many a show, with varying degrees of success.

The year of 2004 was Sunshine’s year to shine.  With a string of Challenges, Best of breeds, and Class in Group wins she quickly started to accumulate points towards her title.

In late August, under a cavalier specialist judge she gained her last points and became my fist Australian Campion.

In early 2005 I decided to move to Melbourne as my professional career needed a change of direction, so this put all showing aspirations on hold, as my current houseing situation makes it difficult to have pets.

In March of 2005 Sunshine was mated to Barnaby, without success, and due to an infection spent a few days in hospital, possibly negating the likely hood that she would be able to have pups in the future.  So with the stress of moving house and some other minor health problems, Sunshine was retired from the ring, and in August she was desexed due to another infection, there ending my hopes of the continuation of my breeding fariy tale.

So Sunshine & Tye are still in Tasmania living with my parents and enjoying the country life style, whilst Barnaby has now moved to New Zealand to further his show career, and hopefully make a New Zealand Champion.

In late October 2005, it was decided that the 2 dogs were a bit much for my parents and so Tye has now gone to a pet home, where she will get all the attention she deserves.
